Schistosoma mansoni (S. mansoni), strain PR-1 was collected from infected snails in Arecibo, Puerto Rico in 1950.
NR-34792 consists of female Swiss-Webster mice obtained from Taconic and exposed to S. mansoni, strain PR-1.
Orders can usually be filled between 2-4 weeks. This delay on new orders is due to a required acclimation period from the date of receipt from the vendor and the exposure of the animals to cercariae. Please plan in advance when ordering mice. Authorization from an institution's animal care and use committee is usually required for these animals to be accepted into a facility.
Shipments of mice ordered through BEI Resources will be shipped by Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) in Rockville, MD. BRI maintains an AAALAC accredited facility, and can supply you or your veterinarian with information on our sentinel animal program and the latest health reports from Taconic. A copy of the most recent sentinel surveillance report from BRI and the commercial supplier's health reports for the infected animals is included in the shipment. If the address of your animal facility is different from that of your lab, please contact us at
contact@beiresources.org to set up the appropriate shipping destination.
To set up a standing recurring order of infected mice, please use the Schistosome Standing Order Reagent Request Form in the shopping cart.
