Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii), strain MRSN 3360 was isolated in 2011 from a human blood sample in the United States as part of a global surveillance program.
A. baumannii, strain MRSN 3360 was deposited as part of the MRSN Acinetobacter baumannii Diversity Panel available from BEI Resources as NR-52248. NR-52161 was deposited as multi-locus sequence type (MLST) ST 499, sensitive to amikacin, ceftazidime, colistin and ceftriaxone, intermediately resistant to tobramycin and tetracycline and resistant to ciprofloxacin, cefepime, gentamicin, imipenem, levofloxacin, meropenem, ampicillin/sulbactam and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Strain MRSN 3360 is reported to have one aminoglycoside transferase gene [ant(2”)-Ia; conferring resistance to various aminoglycosides], three beta-lactamase genes (blaADC-25, blaOXA-95 and blaOXA-23; conferring resistance to beta-lactams), one sulfonamide resistance gene (sul1; conferring resistance to sulfonamides), one chloramphenicol acetyltransferase gene (catB3; conferring resistance to chloramphenicol), one dihydrofolate reductase gene (dfrA19; conferring resistance to trimethoprim), one macrolide phosphotransferase gene [mph(E); conferring resistance to macrolides] and one ABC-F type ribosomal protection protein/ABC-F subfamily protein [msr(E); conferring resistance to erythromycin and streptogramin B antibiotics]. The complete genome of A. baumannii, strain MRSN 3360 is available (GenBank: VHEZ00000000).
Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in Tryptic Soy broth supplemented with 10% glycerol.
