This item can be ordered twice a year. Orders over this limit will be sent to NIAID for approval before shipment. The murine macrophage cell line, NR-19976, was derived using primary bone marrow cells from TLR2 (toll-like receptor 2)/TLR9 (toll-like receptor 9) double knockout mice. The primary bone marrow cells were immortalized by infection with the ecotropic transforming replication-deficient retrovirus J2 using techniques described in the literature. Characterization based on immunofluorescence, stimulation assays and flow cytometry demonstrated that the immortalized cell line retains its macrophage-specific morphological, functional and surface expression properties. Each vial contains approximately 1 mL of cell culture suspension frozen in cell growth medium (90%) and DMSO (10%) cryopreservative. Sufficient cells are provided to initiate at least one new culture.
