Genomic DNA was isolated from a preparation of Escherichia coli (E. coli), strain HS, serotype O9.
E. coli, strain HS was isolated from a laboratory scientist at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, 1978.
E. coli, strain HS is a commensal human isolate that shows no sign of disease in challenge experiments although it is able to colonize the human gastrointestinal tract. This strain is representative of the genomic baseline for human gastrointestinal tract colonization. It is competent and amendable to genetic manipulation, and is highly syntenic with other E. coli genomes.
Genome sequence information is available at Escherichia coli, strain HS Project at TIGR.
NR-9281 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of approximately 1500 bp of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene.
Each vial contains 4 to 6 ?g of bacterial genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH ~ 7.4).
