This vector is transmission competent for Leishmania major and sand fly fever phleboviruses. The whole genome sequence of a representative P. papatasi is available (GenBank: AJVK00000000). NR-44013 consists of adult P. papatasi (sand flies). Adult sand flies CANNOT be shipped and must be picked up onsite at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), Silver Spring, MD, USA.
