Anopheles gambiae (A. gambiae) RSP-ST stock was established by J. Vulule and A. Cornel in 1992, 50 kilometers NW of Kisumu, Kenya, Africa. The standard karyotype stock was selected from RSP by Dr. Anton Cornel. According to the donors, A. gambiae, strain RSP-ST contains mutant sodium channel allele and other unidentified resistance mechanisms.

MRA-698 contains a suitable number of eggs to establish a stock. Eggs are provided on damp filter paper and should be hatched immediately upon receipt.

Applications for MRA-698 include permethrin resistant stock with East African KDR mutation; also has standard chromosome arrangement.
