Phleobotomus duboscqi (P. duboscqi), strain Mali, was collected by P. Lawyer in North Sinai in 2005. This vector is transmission competent for Leishmania major. NR-50316 consists of adult P. duboscqi (sand flies). Any scientist* who is registered at the appropriate level with BEI Resources may request materials provided by the Department of Defense Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Sand Fly Initiative through the BEI Resources online catalog. BEI Resources forwards the request to NIAID for approval. Upon NIAID approval and issuance of permits, reagents will be shipped to the requestor directly from the WRAIR insectary. Ixodes ricinus (I. ricinus) ticks were flagged from vegetation in 2009 in Paris, France, and contributed to CDC by Sarah Bonnet. The whole genome shotgun sequence of a representative I. ricinus colony is available (GenBank: JXMZ00000000). I. ricinus is an arthropod vector competent of transmitting the following pathogens: Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Babesia spp., Borrelia burgdorferi, and tick-borne encephalitis virus. NR-44117 contains a live wild-type I. ricinus larval batch. Note: I. ricinus can also be obtained in adult (NR-42511) or nymph forms (NR-44118).
