Bacillus samanii (B. samanii), strain C1 was isolated from soil covered with clean snow in a secluded area of the Massbay College, Wellesley campus college grounds in February 2006. The spore-forming B. samanii, strain C1 is resistant to Trimethoprim and the Penicillin family of antibiotics and produces α-hemolysin. Sequence analysis of the B. samanii, strain C1 16S gene (GenBank: EF036537) indicates that it is related to the B. cereus group of organisms (B. cereus, B. anthracis, B. mycoides and B. thuringiensis) as well as B. pseudomycoides.
NR-12239 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of approximately 1500 bp of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene.
Each vial contains 4 to 6 ?g of bacterial genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl and 1 mM EDTA, pH ~ 7.4).
