The World Health Organization recommended influenza A/Solomon Islands/3/2006 (H1N1)-like viruses for use as vaccines during the 2007-2008 Northern Hemisphere and the 2008 Southern Hemisphere influenza seasons. Following isolation this strain was passaged in eggs at the CDC followed by two egg passages at Baylor College of Medicine prior to deposition.Influenza A/Solomon Islands/3/2006 (H1N1)-like viruses were used as the influenza A (H1N1) component of the 2007-2008 vaccine for the northern hemisphere and the 2008 vaccine for the southern hemisphere.Influenza A virus, A/Solomon Islands/3/2006 (H1N1) is also available as BEI Resources NR-41798.
