Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii), strain MRSN 14427 was isolated in 2012 from human blood in Afghanistan as part of a global surveillance program. A. baumannii, strain MRSN 14427 was deposited as part of the MRSN Acinetobacter baumannii Diversity Panel available from BEI Resources as NR-52248. NR-52193 was deposited as multi-locus sequence type (MLST) ST 622, sensitive to colistin and tetracycline and resistant to amikacin, ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, cefepime, gentamicin, imipenem, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, levofloxacin, meropenem, tobramycin and ampicillin/sulbactam. Strain MRSN 14427 is reported to have four aminoglycoside transferase genes [aph(3’)-VI, aph(3'')-Ib, aph(6)-Id and armA; conferring resistance to various aminoglycosides], one rifampin ADP-ribosyltransferase gene (arr-2; conferring resistance to rifampin), four beta-lactamase genes (bla_ADC-25, bla_OXA-23, bla_OXA-203 and bla_NDM-1; conferring resistance to beta-lactams), one chloramphenicol exporter gene (cmlA1; conferring resistance to chloramphenicol), one macrolide phosphotransferase gene [mph(E); conferring resistance to macrolides], one ABC-F type ribosomal protection protein gene [msr(E); conferring resistance to erythromycin and streptogramin B antibiotics] and two sulfonamide resistance genes (sul1 and sul2; conferring resistance to sulfonamides). The complete genome of A. baumannii, strain MRSN 14427 is available (GenBank: VHGX00000000). Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in Tryptic Soy broth supplemented with 10% glycerol.
