Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii), strain MRSN 334 was isolated in 2010 from a human respiratory specimen in the United States as part of a global surveillance program. A. baumannii, strain MRSN 334 was deposited as part of the MRSN Acinetobacter baumannii Diversity Panel available from BEI Resources as NR-52248. NR-52148 was deposited as multi-locus sequence type (MLST) ST 2, sensitive to amikacin, colistin and tobramycin, intermediately resistant to tetracycline and resistant to ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, cefepime, gentamicin, imipenem, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, levofloxacin, meropenem and ampicillin/sulbactam. Strain MRSN 334 is reported to have four aminoglycoside transferase genes [aac(3)-I, aac(6’)Iaf, aph(3”)-Ib and aph(6)-Id; conferring resistance to various aminoglycosides], three beta-lactamase genes (bla_ADC-25, bla_OXA-66 and bla_OXA-72; conferring resistance to beta-lactams) and a sulfonamide resistance gene (sul2; conferring resistance to sulfonamides). The complete genome of A. baumannii, strain MRSN 334 is available (GenBank: VHFA00000000). Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in Tryptic Soy broth supplemented with 10% glycerol.
