Genomic DNA was isolated from a preparation of cell lysate and supernatant from cells infected with vaccinia virus, IHD (BEI Resources NR-54).
Lot 5075334 was prepared from infected Cercopithecus aethiops kidney epithelial cells (MA-104 Clone 1; ATCC ? CRL-2378.1?). Lot 63421353 was prepared from infected Cercopithecus aethiops kidney epithelial cells (Vero; ATCC ? CCL-81?).
The NYCBH (Wyeth, calf adapted) strain was derived from a strain obtained by the NYCBH by multiple passage in calf skin. It was used to develop Dryvax?, the live-virus vaccine used during both the World Health Organization vaccination program ending in the mid 1970s and the vaccination programs of the Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Defense which began in 2002.
NR-2638 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of either an approximately 2600 bp sequence or an approximately 1100 bp sequence. NR-2638 is not intended for use as a standard for quantitative PCR.
Each vial of lot 5075334 contains a target amount of 1 ×108 copies of viral genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 7.5) containing sodium azide. The actual number of copies per vial may vary from 10-fold lower to 10-fold higher.
Each vial of lot 63421353 contains 100 ?L of viral genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 7.0).
The viral genomic DNA is in a background of cellular nucleic acid and carrier RNA. The vial should be centrifuged prior to opening.
